WordPress Designer/Developer

Job Location: Remote Position in New Mexico, Texas or Colorado

Employee Status: Contract to Hire, 20 hours per week

Authentic Web Solutions, a web design agency, is looking for a motivated individual to help us create stunning interactive websites with a focus on user experience and customer journey. The job requires solid experience with WordPress, responsive design, and an understanding of digital marketing automation to create websites that attract, convert and delight a visitor.

This position is a remote position and the qualified candidates will need to be self-motivated, detail oriented, well organized and have the ability to problem solve with little supervision. Strong project management experience is required to work efficiently to manage projects and meet deadlines with a desire and capability to function in a small team atmosphere. Must be able to articulate and communicate effectively with other team members, and/or clients (both verbally and in writing). Training will be provided as needed for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build a WordPress websites using a starter template and fully customize the design based on existing client brand guidelines
  • Develop responsive WordPress websites from custom design files using a page builder (ie. Beaver Builder)
  • Research, select, install, configure and customize WordPress plugins (ie. WooCommerce, MemberPress and LearnDash)
  • Integrate website with email and marketing platforms (ie. MailChimp, ActiveCampaign, Hubspot)
  • Perform quality assurance testing of completed tasks and projects (ie. Cross-browser/device/platform testing)
  • Create client training videos and workflow documentation
  • Setup hosting environment and/or migrate website from another hosting company
  • Manage domain transfers, domain nameservers and DNS records
  • Perform WordPress updates and maintenance
  • Update client websites such as adding content, posting blogs, and images
  • Contact the client's web host when needed for emergencies
  • Manage support inbox, create support tickets for appropriate team members, and communication with clients to set clear expectations on the process and turnaround times

Education and Experience:

  • WordPress CMS platform and Page Builder such as Beaver Builder, Elementor, Visual Composer, Divi, Genesis
  • Graphic design using Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop 
  • HTML5, CSS3 and modern web standards 
  • Understanding of on-page technical SEO best practices
  • Must have a strong eye for design and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • College degree or equivalent experience

Working Conditions:

  • Must be fully comfortable working remote
  • Must have reliable phone, internet, computer and an environment that is quiet for occasional phone or video calls
  • Must have flexibility to attend meetings and calls that fall outside of regular work hours to accommodate a client’s time zone.
  • Occasional travel for company retreats or client meetings

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods
  • Lots of typing – repetitive motions of hands, fingers and wrists (typing)
  • Travel (air, car, etc.)

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Must be located in TX, NM or CO


  • $25 per hour depending on experience 
  • Flexible schedule (generally 9:00-5:00 M-F CST)
